Wohnungsbörse

Liebe Studierende,

Dear students,

The search for accommodation is a great challenge for many students and unfortunately people use the existing housing platforms with fraudulent intentions to cheat students looking for accommodation out of large sums of money or to ask for data without a rental contract being signed or the rental object (room, flat) even existing.

Our first recommendation is therefore our International Student Residence, which now offers accommodation for 175 people in 4 houses. Please apply for a place in the hall of residence as soon as possible – the application portal usually opens at the end of January for the coming academic year (https://www.fh-kufstein.ac.at/Leben/studentenheim) .

In addition, we ask you to consider the recommendations of experts when looking for accommodation. The basic rule is:

  • No deposit or rent in advance, even if the supposedly reputable handling of a viewing/key transfer is to be done via well-known portals such as Airbnb, eBay or booking.com.
  • No money for deposit/redeem without checking that the (inspected) flat actually belongs to the person offering the flat and that a rental contract can be presented; as a matter of principle, do not pay any inspection fee.
  • Do not pass on data before signing the tenancy agreement.
  • Data theft when looking for a flat; therefore, beware of and be careful with phishing e-mails and links sent along, which should not be followed, or attachments, which should not be opened either!
  • No transfers to foreign accounts (the IBAN of Austrian accounts starts with “AT”, German accounts with “DE”); no agreements with persons who are “abroad” & become suspicious of correspondence in poor German or English!
  • Check given contact details by checking/writing to the given email address, calling the phone number, checking the address in Google and asking if the apartment/room is for rent.
